New Paragraph
There were many other moments from my trip that I will hold in my heart and mind as I continue along my journey towards becoming a doctor. I learned the most about patient care and how that looks first-hand when you’re in a country that has minimal access to healthcare. I loved every minute of my experience with Global Health Leaders and accepted an offer to work for the company as an ambassador after my internship. I will be sharing my story and experiences with other interns in hopes that they will decide to create their own story with GHL. I’m truly grateful for the opportunities that GHL gave me to learn from inspirational and motivational healthcare providers, to take care of people in places with minimal access to healthcare, and to ultimately create global change for a healthier and happier world.
Everyone who wants to work in the medical field has heard about inaccessibility of healthcare, but to actually see what inaccessibility is really like is so different. Anyone going into the medical field should do a medical trip with Global Health Leaders.
It has been a pleasure to be able to work in the environment that Global Health Leaders created. Through the experience in Dominican Republic, I was able to further my love for global health and humanitarian aid. The clinics showed me the true importance of assisting those who do not have accessible healthcare. This truly was the ultimate learning experience.
Thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity. This trip was very educational and I enjoyed it a lot.
I would just like to thank you for providing such an exciting and rewarding experience; I had the time of my life in the Dominican and I’m so grateful for all the memories I made and people I met.
This was just so amazing. I can't wait to do it again as a senior leader next year. Thank you so much!
This opportunity gave me the chance to do what I am passionate about in an even more challenging and self developing kind of way that one would not usually get, just because its in another country. It is definitely worth it, and so beneficial. I will absolutely take this opportunity again if I am given it.
Serving a community that has such poor access to quality medical care services and lack of resources was eye opening. Being from Los Angeles, California witnessing intense poverty and hardship is nothing new to me, but I had never experienced such impoverishment. I’m happy that I was able to be a part of a genuine organization that aims to expand international healthcare resources. Exposure to patient vitals, delivering medications to families and children, patient centered care is an experience I will take with me throughout my medical journey. I was able to successfully deliver hundreds of medications to families and children in need. Additionally, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to shadow doctor patient consultations and be taught patient disease causation, nor take vitals of hundreds of patients.
